Big Rapids, Michigan, September 26, 2014
Each year, the Historical Society of Michigan presents State History Awards to individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the appreciation and understanding of Michigan history. The awards are presented at the annual State History Conference and recognize the excellence of achievement by an individual or organization in the collection, preservation, and/or promotion of state and local history in several categories. On Friday evening September 26th the society announced its 2014 winners at their annual dinner.
The Henry Ford Heritage Association was selected as the 2014 recipient in the Communications: Newsletters & Websites category for production of our newsletter, the Ford Legend.
President Joe Adams and newsletter editor Carrie Adams were on hand to receive the award. President Adams said upon accepting the award: “The Henry Ford Heritage Association is honored and delighted to be recognized by the Historical Society of Michigan for the excellent work done by our newsletter team. With each issue of the Legend we seek to inform and entertain our readers in the rich and varied history surrounding Henry Ford, his family and his company. 2013 was the sesquicentennial of Henry Ford’s birth and as we have done for nearly 25 years, the Legend continues to celebrate the legacy of the tinkerer turned titan that helped put the world on wheels.”
The board of directors of the Henry Ford Heritage Association thanks the Historical Society of Michigan for the honor of being named the recipient of the 2014 award for outstanding communications and especially thanks the editor, volunteer staff of the Legend, and Mel’s Printing for their dedication and professionalism in producing an award winning newsletter for the association.
